Originally from South Africa, Tim Williams had been experimenting with different chilli mixes with friends since childhood. When Tim married Annette, who doesn’t like hot flavours, Tim develop a product that would produce the same or similar flavours whether cooked with or added after. This allowed Tim and Annette to share the same meal, yet accommodate the different preferences for heat and spiciness.
The Kingfisher Chilli Paste does exactly that, it is totally natural with a wholesome goodness that bring out the flavour in any meal.
In 2017 our Kingfisher Chilli Oil received commendation in the Oils and Vinegar section for the Quality Food Awards, thus rating us the 3 best oil in the country and the top flavoured oil. The judges praised the flavour and texture of the oil and especially the delayed “kick” which gave rise to our slogan “Flavour before Flame”.
In 2018, our refreshed new brand that stands today was launched at the Farm and Deli Show in Birmingham. A hidden chilli can be found in the Kingfisher’s wing, as well as one formed within the g from the word Kingfisher. The slightly slanted image behind the Kingfisher is Africa, bringing the story full circle.
In 2020, Kingfisher Chilli was acquired by Sauce Shed Ltd, with Annette and Tim still championing the brand. Sauce Shed brings innovation and expert culinary skills to the brand and we are so excited to be brining you our new and enhanced product range soon.
